What is Miso?

Miso is a magical food. Translated as the ‘source of taste’, miso is a complete food. It contains lactic acid bacteria and enzymes, which nourish and stimulate the digestion. Miso also has a nutritional balance of vitamins, minerals, essential oils and protein.

Miso can offer us many benefits. It is good for building stamina and is nourishing and revitalizing. Miso is good for circulation, the blood and the immune system. It can strengthen the heart and lower cholesterol too. Use miso as part of your regular diet to help your skin and hair glow with health and keep you youthful looking.

Miso can be used to de-toxify the body by neutralising the negative effects of smoking, drinking, atmospheric pollution and radiation.

Miso has been used for centuries in `Japan. Craftsmen transformed soybeans, salt and grains into a rich, hearty paste used for seasoning many dishes. There are many varieties of miso, each with its own unique flavor, color and aroma. The different regions and the people who prepare the miso add a special individuality to each batch.

It is now possible to purchase American made miso. There are many varieties including sweet white, brown rice, chickpea or barley miso. Miso is most famous for soup but it can also be used in stews, sauces, spreads and dips. It is very easy to use and is packaged in small containers.

Miso will bring your meals to life. Add a touch of its hearty, deep flavor to transformed any soup. Simply dilute miso in a little hot water and add to your dish during the last few minutes of cooking. Then relax and relish the clean taste that will leave you warm, grounded and satisfied.
